The beauty of a unifying theory.

In this post, I will attach a video from a TED conference autorship by a young physicist called Garret Lisi who is proposing a new unifying theory of the Universe. As you know (or not?), there is a big gap between general relativity (accounting for the bigger objects in the Cosmos) and the quantum mechanics (involved with the micro ones). This "guy", a bohemian and nomad surfer, proposes us a a new view able to reconciliate these two ways to model the Universe. He postulates the presence of a multidimensional "object" (8 dimension to be more accurate) able to "generate" the most elementary forces and particles in the Universe. If you have 20 minutes, enjoy this presentation, and be careful about the bidimensional proyections of this multidimesional object. You will be astonished, and you won´t be regret for the time invested.

PD: Some more information about this "guy" and his work: in November 2010, he published a "working paper" (I will come back about the publication in science, in reference to the "working paper way" to present reseach data) about his theory in the database arXiv. A few month ago, he published a revisited version of this paper and submitted to a specialized journal in the field for "regular" publication.
